Former Liverpool defender Alan Hansen said the team’s players are a “disgrace” after they lost 2-1 against Blackpool on Sunday. The Liverpool legendary player said he saw the team showed no character against Blackpool, in a football game that meant their third defeat this season in the Premier League and their first defeat playing at home.
Also, manager Roy Hodgson and the American owners of the football club have been criticized for the team’s lack of personality. Alan Hansen says, though, that players bear much of the responsibility, since they have showed no determination to improve things for Liverpool. The football team currently is in the relegation positions and Sunday’s defeat did not help it at all.
“Forget about history and tradition, forget about the owners, forget about the manager – that defeat against Blackpool is all about the players,” Hansen commented. “If that performance had come when they were at the top of the league it would have been terrible, but to come when they were in the bottom three, it’s a disgrace.” Manager Roy Hodgson has admitted that the team is having a rough time to get back on the track this season.
Also, some football players have apologized for their performance. Striker Dirk Kuyt said that the result of the match against Blackpool was really disappointing. “It’s probably one of the hardest defeats I’ve had to take since I’ve been here and we’re sorry for the fans. The first thing we have got to do is make sure we start winning games again and then we can begin to take things from there.”
